King Crimson 5.1's

Has anyone else here gotten these here yet. I have 2 so far Crimson King and Lizard and am just totally amazed at how good these sound. I am talking about the surround Dvda's and as Steve Wilson has mixed/mastered these they sound so clear and the mix has great placement of where instruments are heard from(think Steeley Dan clarity). I hadn't listened to Crimson King album in a long time(me bad) so I had forgotten how good some of the songs are on this album but I am just blown away...

Just watched the Jools Holland Show and saw this mad australian band called the Spaghetti Western Orchestra. They play Ennio Morricone soundtracks. Now i don't know why but i think i like them !

New Glass Hammer CD Pre-orders

The new cd is called "Three Cheers For The Broken-Hearted" and according to the website the music is taking on a little darker side this time around. I'm not sure what that means but the cd will be released in a month or less. Maybe it will be back to Lex Rex and Chronometree style with a harder edge.

As my wife is from Europe, it's common for her to play music for me that is new to my ears and fantastic. The latest is a band called Boom Boom Johnson. It's from somewhere in time around the late Eighties, early Nineties. Anyway, it's really cool stuff! Kinda bluesy, fusiony something else-y! Great players and melodies and even good words. I can't believe it's just a couple weeks away now, gotta start organizing my goodies, we'll be doing all sorts of CD specials including a $5 section with 150 or so titles to choose from. I'm also bringing my 14 year old son to continue his musical education. So far we've been to Circa, Marcus Miller, Stanley Jordan, Asia, Yes and Kansas.

In 2008 keyboardist Carl Westholm took time out from his duties with Carptree to put together the Jupiter Society and release the amazing album "First Contact // Last Warning". The response was so overwhelmingly positive that Carl is back with a second installment, with guests from Royal Hunt, Tiamat, Krux and Candlemass, the release is called "Terraform".

R.I.P. Jim Carroll

Poet, author and punk rocker Jim Carroll is dead at the age of 60.
I had the pleasure of seeing The Jim Carroll Band live in 1981 and attending one of his poetry readings as well.
He is also the author of "The Basketball Diaries".
He suffered a heart attack at his home in Manhatten.
I guess he's now among those "People Who Died", to quote his most famous song. He will be missed.

Kerry Livgren had a stroke

O I just read that on sept 1, kerry suffered a stroke, and needed surgery to remove a bloodclot in his brain. It says he is doing better, but faces a long recovery, with speech therapy and the such. Sad news from one of my faves, big Kansas fan from back in the day!!!

Hi all. I need some help to find out what song this is.

I was in a clothing shop the other day and heard a song played on their speakers. At first it sounded very poppy, and the lyrics were kinda silly, but it had a very funky vibe and then suddenly came this wild jazzy solo part. It sounded very modern and slickly produced, but also very nice. I tried to google the small parts of lyrics that I got written down, but haven't found anything.

So, does anyone know who/what...
